PES UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION. NELSON, Jan. 14. The 'Evening Mail' understands that at tliis afternoon's meeting of the Hospital and Charitable Aid) Board a letter was received from Mr T. Oawthorn, the donor of the solar observatory, giving £15,000 for a new* hospital. With the Government subsidy, £33,000 will be available for the purpose. It is understoodl that this is the largest gift given to any public body in New Zealand during the donor's lifetime.
