AUSTRALIA'S FLEET.

Massey (Prime Minister of New Zealand) cabled on behalf of the Government and people of Now Zealand, "If opportunity offers during the coming summer for a visit to the Dominion of the whole or part of the Commonwealth Fleet, New Zealand will be glad to extend a cordial welcome." Hon. J. Cook (Prime Minister) replied, "I much appreciate your invitation but am not aware at present if itwill be possible for the fleet to go to New Zealand. If so it will he gratifying to us."

WELLM&TON, Sept. 29. The Government this morning decided to invite the Australian Federal Government to send its squadron of warships to visit New Zealand during the coming summer. If the Australian Government complies with the request the vessels will visit the main ports of the Dominion so that the population may have the opportunity of visiting; them without difficulty. The squadron will make an imposing show and will do much to cement the feeling of brotherhood between the Dominion and the Commonwealth,
