COMPRESSED AIR CAISSON

FRENCH HARBOR DISASTER. BY ELECTEIC TELEGRAPH COrXRIGHT. PEE UNITED PEESS ASSOCIATION. Received September 29, 9.15 a.m. PARIS, Sept, 28. A compressed air caisson at harbor works at Lorient (on tho south coast of Brittany) burst and sank in 10 minutes. Seven men were recovered and are in a precarious condition while three are dead. A caisson is a water-tight box of timber or iron, within which work is carried on in building foundations or structures below the water level.
