SLANDER ACTION.

SOUTH AFRICAN CASE. PI ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH.—COPTRIGHI. PEE UNITED PRKSS ASSOCIATION. Received November 2, 9.30 a.m. CAPETOWN, Nov. 1. Mr Fraser, a school inspector, was awarded a verdict for £25 in his slander against General Hertzog.

The hearing of this slander action at Bloemfontein against Hon. J. B. M. Qertzog, Union Minister of Justice, brought by Mr Fraser, a dismissed school inspector, aroused great interest. The case arose out of an election speech in 1910, in connection with Mr Hertzog's Education Act. A thousand pounds damages was claimed.
