ELECTION NOTES.
Mr C. Cowan addressed the electors of Awarua at Winton on Monday night, and received a vote of confidence. Mr Mahoney, a schoolmaster, is definitely out for Bruce iD the Ministerial and Prohibi- v tion interests, and Mr Bawlins for Tuapeka as an Opositionist. Mr Thomas Ayson addressed the electors at Kelso on Monday last, Mr Fraser Falconer in the chair. After dealing in a trenchant thongh somewhat colored manner with the political questions of the day, Mr Ayson, on the motion of Mr McHarvey, was accorded a hearty vote of thants for his address. Mr McNab spoke at Croydon on Tuesday evening. Owing to the stormy weather, the ■ attendance was limited to about 30 persons, and Mr B. Dickson presided. On the motion - of Mr A. Strachan, sen., seconded by Mr Alfred Dickson, Mr McNah was accorded a unanimous vote of thanks. Mr Gilfedder has been selected as a candi- •'-. date for the Wallace seat by the Winton : " ' branch of the Workers' Union. ' -'.'.-' Mr W. Fraser has been addressing meetings throughout the lower portions of the , ■ Wakatipn Electorate, and has been very cordially received everywhere. A corres- - ; pondent of the ' Otago Daily Times ' states ■■ that Mr Fraser can safely rely on receiving ' --V fully two-thirds of the votes recorded in that "--".. part of the electorate. Indeed, his return is X-. looked upon as a certainty. "' -S_ Determined efforts are being made to get ; '3 Mr Duthie to contest the Wellington seat,. -.- ? and on Monday he was presented with a i requisition bearing 1500 signatures. Stout addressed a crowded meeting ; ' at Wellington last night, and received a vote -k of thanks and continued confidence. . '_ Mr Seddon spoke at Hnlcombe on Tuesday night, and a vote of thanks and confidence in the Government was carried unanimously. '- 1
