Bachelors' Ball at Balfour.
«. - The bachelors of Balfour gave a very successful ball in the Town Hall on Friday, > 30th ult. The bachelors' were present in;- ' " great force, and although the floor was some- •- — what crowded, every one present was in a " / state of single blessedness. The ball opened with the grand march at , .■■:' 9, and dancing was-feuot-iip" with great' spirit.. • "■ until 5 a.m. The half-was most tastefully ■--;■- --decorated by the working committee, and a ;' word of praise is due to them for the able manner in which they brought the ball to >a ~ -- successful issue. The music was suppliedby '-.'•'■:'_' Messrs Edwards (piano), and White (violin). . ';- The refreshments, of an excellent quality j'" . f. and ingreatquantity, were provided by Messrs' *•-■'''■■'- Clark and Co., Balfour. ■ .V: Songs were creditably given during the - C .-; evening by Messrs Mitchell, W. Smith, ,- :j Edwards, H. Smith, White, and Basmussen, f\ ..-, and step dances were executed by Mr D.-iij^-? Beidy. It would be needless to name the "*.tdresses worn by the ladies; suffice it to say .;*:<; they were charming and handsome.
