The matter was reported to the police, who have gone in pursuit. The steamer Afghan will probably return to Melbourne to endeavor to land her Chinese passengers for t_i.ere. The owners of vessels which have arrived here from China feel indisposed to go on to Melbourne, but the Chinese passengers insist on being conveyed to their destination. The first span of the Hawkesbury Bridge, of 416 feet in length, was successfully floated into position to-day.
