Hose and Hydrant, five men ; to run 10 yards, pick up reel, run 100 yards with reel to the plug, fix hydrant, run out 100 feet hose, fix branch, throw water over rope ten feet from ground, fix union, run out 5 feet hose from each delivery of union (union to be capped on one delivery), fix branches, show water over rope as before ; reel to carry 250 feet hose, hydrant, branches and union (fin nozzles). Hose to bo wet, to commence with canvas hose not less than 2} inches, and in no way prepared or lined. Both lines from union to run in same direction, not crossed; time from start to showing waterover rope hydrant branches and union to be detached at starting, all gear for event to bo supplied by Association. Ist prize, silver and bronze shield (presented by Fire Underwriters’ Association of Otago) and L 2.5 cash, to be won twice before becoming the property of the winners, won last year by Spit brigado ; 2nd prize, LlO cash.
