Per Press Association. Wellington, Feb 23. At the Licensing election, Tty Aro Ward, to-day, the publican candidates have been returned. Captain Holmes, chief pilot, has been granted six months’ leave of absence on full pay by the Harbor Board. It seems that the sinews of his hands have contracted seriously through continuously gripping the steer oar, and it is not improbable that he may require to undergo an operation, Auckland, Feb 23. The New Zealand Timber Co held their annual meeting to-day. The balance showed a profit of £437 ss, which vriU be carried to account of accrued profits invested in the business. Sir G. Grey has expressed his intention of donating a further number of pictures to the Auckland Art Gallery. Two additional coaches for the Wellington Omnibus Co. were shipped from Auckland to-day. 11.M.5. Oral sailed for Wellington today. The Swinger, with Admiral Fairfax and party on board, has proceeded to Great Barrier Island and wiU return on Saturday. Dunedin, Feb 23.
For the Dunedin Rifle Association meeting 62 entries have been made from Otago Volunteers.
