Card Evening. The Tirau branch of the W.D.F.U. held another. of their fortnightly card evenings in the hall last week. The function was popular and well attended. Prizewinners were: — Euchre: Mrs. Barton and Mr. Matahere; consolation, Mrs. Strickland and Mr. Bartlett. 500: Miss E. Allen and Mr. Bonney; consolation, Mrs. Withers and Mr. E. Allen. Dancing followed supper, music being supplied by Mrs. Bishop and Mr. R. Marshall. Anglican Women’s Club. The July meeting of the Anglican Women’s Club was held recently at Mrs. Dodson's house, when there was the biggest attendance of the year. Further arrangements were made for the concert being organised by the club. Some discussion took place as to the form that future meetings should take, whether they should remain informal or be worked to a definite programme. The president, Mrs. Seton, intimated that members’ opinion on this matter would be welcomed, and suggested that each one should come to the next meeting armed with a definite idea of the type of meeting she would prefer, when perhaps a ballot might be taken on the result. The resignation of Miss Allen as secretary was received with regret, and Mrs. Blundell was appointed in her place. Hostesses for the afternoon were Mesdames Davis and Withers.
Oddfellows’ Activities. Officers of the Loyal Patetere Lodge, M.U.1.0.0.F., visited Putaruru last week for a degree night, and after the business of the meeting were entertained to supper by the officers of the Loyal Selwyn Lodge.
