Both teams were under strength, due to several players being out of the district, or to being employed in seasonal occupations. The game as a rule was a very ragged one. Arrow held the territorial advantage in the first spell, but play was of an even nature in the second spell. Half way through the first spell, Arrow won a line out near Queenstown’s goal line; Jack ways got possession after some loose play and dropped over. Richardson converted. McSoriley got possession, cut through to beat two men and passed to McCorkindale, to Boyle, who went over for a good try, which was converted by J. W. McSoriley. In the second spell Arrow got most of the ball from the scrums, but only occasionally did the backs gain any advantage. Both sets of backs Indulged iu a good deal of kicking, and the forwards were run off their feet. At tines the referee pera’hed players for not getting back to their places. The game was of a give and take nature all through the spell and it looked as if it would be drawn. However, close on time when Queenstown were attacking in Arrow's 25 Boyle, instead of finding touch, passed in to Lynch, who was caught-in possession. The ball was mishandled by several Queenstown players, and finally Fletcher obtained possession and kicked up the field. Dudley followed up fast and the bounce favouring him, he secured and went over to score in the corner. Time was called iu a few minutes with the score:—Arrow 8, Queenstown 5.
