WAKATIPU DEFENCE RIFLE CLUB.
GARSTOX SECTION
The annua! meeting of the Garston Section of the Wakatipu Defence Ride Club was held on September 10. There was a good aitendance of members. The balance sheet showed the Club’s finances to be in a very sound condition. A target shed is in course of construction at the butts which will help to keep the targets in order. The Garston team won the Capt Jack Mackenzie Shield last year and put up good performances in the Breweries Cup match and the Mackenzie Challenge Shield match. The principal trophy winners for the past season were:—President's trophy, L. Blakely; Club championship cup. Pres. Mackenzie; runner up (club championship), £1 special, donated by Mr Kennelt, J. McLeod; Carmthers’ Cup, J. McLeod: P. A. McXamee Memorial Cup. Pres. Mackenzie; Witcombc Caldwell Cup, G. Gordon; 10s special. donated by Mr O. McXamee to most improved shot, W. A. Gordon; anonymous trophy, R. J. Lawne.
The election of office-bearers resulted as follows:—ChaTman, G. Gordon; auditor. N. Blakely: range officers, J. McLeod and N. Blakely; officer in charge of butts, G. Gorcvn; handicapper, J. McLeod; secretary and treasurer: J. H. Gordon. It was decided to hold the Breweries Cup Match on Labour Day.
It was decided to commence shooting on Saturday, September 19, with seven shots at 300, 500 and 000 yards.
