PERSONAL NOTES.

Mr F. Ross returned from Inverear gill on Friday.

Mr Murray Davidson of the Government Gardens Staff, went oil duty at the end of the week on leave. His Worship the Mayor, accompanied by Mrs Overton and Master Jim, returned to Queenstown from Christchurch on Saturday. Mr and Mrs Jno. Thompson of "Eureka House” went away on Wednesday on a visit to Invercargill and and Dunedin. Mrs das, C. Knowles returned to Glenorchy on Friday after an extended holiday in the Cromwell-Wanaka district. The Misses E. and F. Berry of Christchurch are the guests of Mr and W. H. Berry, Park St., having come from the Cathedral City with their brother at the week-end. Mr W. Davidson left yesterday for Invercargill, where he will attend the marriage of his brother, Mr M. Davidson, which takes place this week. Mr T. Jones took his departure from Queenstow n on Wednesday morning.

Mr A. Tripp, who has been in temporary employment in Queenstown for some time, left early in the week for Hawca. He will be missed in local football elides. Mrs Irwin Hunter and Miss Hunter, accompanied by the former’s sister, Mrs Jago, returned to Queenstown on Friday night from Dunedin, where they spent some weeks. Constable Brooks of Pembroke, who has been transferred to Anderson’p Bay, was recently farewelLed by the sports bodies and residents of the Upper Clutha district. The Clutha Junction Rifle Club presented him with a fountain pen and the Wanaka Cricket and Golf Clubs with tokens of the esteem in which he was held. At another large gathering tendered Mr and Mrs Brooks the residents of the district made them each the gift of an arm chair.

The death took place at Christf church on the 26th ult. of Mrs H. Berry, mother of Mr W. H. Berry of Queenstown. Deceased lady, who was in her 80th year, was one of the early colonists, having come to New Zealand with the Himalaya in 1866. Her husband predeceased her 36 years ago. Of a family of ten, live sons and three daughters, survive her. These are: Messes H. Berry (Sydney), D. Berry and E. J. Berry (Christchurch), C. T. Berry (Invercargill), W. H. Berry (Queenstown); Mrs Fraser and the Misses E. and F. Berry (Christchurch). Mr W. H. Berry motored through to Christchurch for the funeral.
