RETURNED SOLDIERS

TO-DAY’S REVIEW

The returned soldiers at the Royal review to-day will parade in four companies, as follows ?-

Mounted Itiflos and cyclists. Artillery and trench mortars. Infantry. Retails (signallers, medical corps, etc.).

The. parade will l>o under tho command of Lieutenant-Colonel H. Stewart, C.M.G., R. 5.0., M. 0., who commanded the 2nd Battalion of tho Canterbury Regiment from its formation m March, 1916, until tho signing of the armistice.

The first company will be under Major P. JNI. Acton-Adams, R. 5.0., second in command of tho Canterbury Mounted Rifles. Tho artillery will be under Major R. C. Wiekens. D. 5.0., .officer commanding tho 2nd Battalion, N.Z. If .A. The infantry will be under Lieu-tenant-Colonel N. F. Shepherd, D. 5.0., who commanded tho Ist Battalion of tho Rifle Brigade. Th© details will be taken by Lieutenant-Colonel A. D. Stitt, D. 5.0., who commanded in turn the 2nd and Ist Battalions of tho Canterbury Regiment. Captain W. R. Lascellos will be adjutant of the parade. Other returned officers of field rank attending tho parade will include: — Lieutenant-Colonel IV. C. Sinel, D. 5.0., Lieutenant-Colonel J. Studholme, C.8.E., R. 5.0., Lieutenant-Coloilel H. Macdonald, Major K. M. Oresson. Major M. H. S. Westmacott, Major R. A. R. Lawry, 0.8. E., Major J. Anderson, Major ID. W. Cudden and Major S. W B. Booker, M.C. Major G. Williams will t-ake charge of members of the A.I.F. It is particularly requested that all men, whether in uniform or inufti, should wear their medals or whatever decoration they may have. If the day is tine, the men are expected not to bring their overcoats.

HANMER MEN. Eighty men from Hanmer hospital arrived in Christchurch last night, and aro to leave again for Hanmer to-mor-row morning. They are very anxious to have their leave extended till Monday, so that they will be able to attend' the Royal race meeting and enter more fully into the celebrations. Yesterday morning a deputation waited on the secretary of the Returned Soldiers’ Association and put tlio matter before him. Mr Leadlcy lias thereforo telegraphed to General M*Gavin conveying the men’s request, and guaranteeing OU behalf of the assoointio" V. billet tho men until Monday if hospital accommodation is not available.
