WAGES CONDITIONS. DISSATISFACTION IN SERVICE. [Per Press Association.] ASHBURTON, Alarch 9A mass meeting comprising the three societies of railway employees was held last evening, and the following resolutions wore carried:—(l) “That we place on record our entire dissatisfaction with *” Mr Justice Stringer’s report, and con-' sider Is absolutely inadequate to meet the ever-increasing cost of living, and demand an all-round five shillings increase per d§y. We also pledge ourselves to support the executive in any drastic action it may deem necessary to achieve this result- Further, we demand a reply to our request within seven days. (2) That this meeting protests against spending public money in entertaining the Prince of Wales in “» view of the fact that the Government had failed to grant their employees a living wage, and we refuse to participate in the celebrations.” m TIAIARU, March 9. The Timaru branch of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants passed' i esolutions asking the executive: —(1) To decline the bonus offered as inadequate to meet the increased cost of living; (2) to take a strille ballot; (3) ta call gtop-work . meetings to discuss wages and working conditions, supporting the Napier branch regarding the de~ I struction of military clothing, and condemning the waste of money on the visit of the Prince of Wales, and deciding to taka no part in. the celebrations.

DUNEDIN, Alarch 9. A meeting of the Executive Committee of the Railway Officers’ Institute was held to-night "to consider the recommendations of the chairman, of.the Railway AY’ages Inquiry Board on the claims submitted to the board by the institute at the beginning of last month. A series of resolutions, expressing the institute’s disapproval of Air Justice Stringer’s recommendations, were passed and ordered to be submitted! to the Minister of Railways and the General Alanager.
