SOLDIER SENTENCED.
* The finding of District Court-martial held at Trentham Camp on October 11, 1918, having been confirmed by the Commandant New Zealand Military Forces, has been promulgated: 71943 Private A. Smith, Details, found guilty of deserting his Majesty's service, sentenced to detention for 112 days. Confirmed at Wellington on October 21, 1918, but the sentence 'is mitigated _so that if the accused embarks for active service outside of New Zealand, then upon embarkation the unexpired portion of his sentence (if any) shall be remitted and his New Zealand records shall be endorsed accordingly.
