At a conductresses' mass meeting the chairman announced a hitch in the negotiations, and the meeting adjourned after informally negativing a proposal to resume work pending an award. DECISION TO RESUME. LONDON, August 22. The traffic strikers' meeting was so packed that many girls fainted. It appears that the officials of the two unions are at loggerheads. Subsequently a stormy meeting decided to resume work on Friday.

Over a thousand men and women, employed on the London Tube Railways, discussed "equal pay for equal work," and passed a resolution in favour of an immediate strike. They will probably come out to-day. A number of women train-cleaners and porters on the Great Western Railway struck, demanding equal pay for equal work. The Railway Clerks' Union threatens to strike for a similar recognition
