Mr F. M. Collins has just undergone a serious operation. His many friends will be pleased to hear that he is making satisfactory progress. A cable message states tharb Mr Joseph Cook, the Australian politician, haß been created a Knight of the Grand Cross of St Michael and St George. Mia G. Moffat, of Islington, has received advice stating that her son. Corporal A. Moffat, has been awarded tho Military Medal. Corporal Moffat was born at Halswell twenty-four years ago but has resided for many years at Islington. He received his education at, fchw Hornby District School, and previous to enlistment was employed at the Islington works o J f Mie New Zealand Refrigerating Company. He left New Zealand with the Canterbury Infantry of the Twentylirat Reinforcements, and spent two or t/hree months at Sling Camp before proceeding on to France. Ho has been in the firing-lino continuously for the past fifteen months, and is now attached to the BnHolion. C"<--poral Moffat won his stripes on the field.
