MR MASSEY'S MISTAKES.

TO THE EDITOR.

gj r Your correspondent "Cor Amore" in Wednesday's issue succeeded more in proving how weak Mr Massoy's case is than in persuading your readers that you are so grossly unjust towards vour opponents. I think most of your readers will agree that if the Premier is so innocent "Con Amore" ought to be capable of defending him without using such uncalled for and scurrilous remarks concerning you. But of course effective criticism has a bad effect on some, people. If anybody wants proof of your fairness, 1 would urge them to read your leader, in which you dealt with his letter, without retaliation to his personal icmarks. There is no necessity to encroach on your space by traversing the whole subject, but until the Prime Minister denies making t"he following statements—(l) that there would Be no dimcultv that the Government oould not overcome ; (2) that there would be no such difficulty as higher freights attracting New Zealand shipping to Austmlia (which apparently has happened), he must expect to be solely blamed, as his optimism staved off any 'attempt to meet tho crisis.—l am, ■, etc.. ; ■ ". i L. M'DONALD. -J Waipara, February 17. |
