QUEENSLAND. THE RECENT ELECTIONS. United Press Association—By Electrio Telegraph—Copyright. BRISBANE, May 3 Previous to the counting of the absentee votes the Labour candidate for South Brisbane, Mr J. H. Sherry, occupied the leading position, but now that tho greater, number of these have been received the Ministerialist candidate, Mr T. W- Bouchard, is leading by 31 votes. A few absentee returns are still to come in, but these cannot alter the result. Four seats are still in doubt, but Ministerialists are hopeful of winning at least two of these. The latest returns show the strength of parties to be— * Ministerialists :>. . • 48 Labour . . • • 26 TASMANIA. STRENGTH OF PARTIES. HOBART, May 3. Most of the election returns are still incomplete, a shortage of ballot papers in some electorates having accentuated the delay. An analysis of the returns at present available indicates the strength of parties to be as follows: Ministerialists 'Vi ' • ' ". 17 Labour . . jfefjy ■•» '■•"■'' 13 NEW SOUTH WALES.. A NEW MINISTER. Mr Cann, member for Broken Hill, has been appointed State Treasurer. The three representatives of the Barrier are now Ministers, Mr Griffiths being State Minister of Public Works, and Mr Thomas, Federal Minister of Home Affairs.
