SHIPPING CASUALTIES.
[Per Press Association.] WELLINGTON, April 24. It is reported from Levin that a three-masted vessel is lying off the beach flying signals ,of distress. A constable has gone out to investigate. WELLINGTON, April 25. Tho postmaster at Levin telegraphed to tho secretary of tho chief post office that a constable sent to the Hokio beach returned to-day and reports that a barque is apparently aground, He could not distinguish anything by which tho vessel could be identified. Three steamers wore close to her, but seemed uuablo to get the barque off. A moderate sea was running, with a considerable swell, but otherwise the weather was fine. There was no wind. Another constablo has been sent to the beach.
