ENTERTAINMENTS.
A progressive euchre match was played at the Lodge, Hanmer, on February 8 thirty-sis players taking part. Miss Hogg and Miss Cosset won the ladies' prizes and Mr Jones and Mr Walter Spring the men's. The prizes were presented by Mr Meek. On February 6 the residents of Ealkett entertained Mr W. Stewart, who has decided to leave the district, at a smoke concert. A number of toasts was honoured, and speeches, songe and recitations mado a pleasant evening's entertainment. A pleasant evening was spent in the Orange Hall, Hornby, on Wednesday, the members of No. 24, Loyal Orange Ledge and their friends extending to Brother Nichol, an arrival from County Cavan, Ireland, a hearty welcome "to New Zealand, with an expression of hope that he would find the dominion and its people ail that oould be desired. Brother W. Davis was in the chair, and songs were given
by Brothers M'Millen and Maskeray, and a duet by Brothers Campbell and Guy. ____ OT _
