TRADES AND LABOUR COUNCIL.
A meeting of the Canterbury Trades and Labour Council was held on Saturday, Mr J. Barr (president) in the chair. Sir , Joseph Ward wrote in reply to the Council stating that the complaint as to the Lyttelton Wharf Labourers’ Union was incorrect, as he had endeavoured on every occasion to help the wharf labourers. It was decided to forward the letter to the Lyttelton Union. A complaijit was made against the International Harvester Trust by a delegate, and was referred to the executive to report. The secretary of the Trades Councils’ New Zealand Executive wrote, asking that the items for the order paper of the conference should reach him not later than January 31, 1906. The-.Wollingt ton Council wrote, suggesting that the question of the reduction of the hours of labour should bo referred to the annual conference.
