FLORAL FETE.

A largely attended meeting of the al Committee of the Floral Fete was held at the City Council Chambers yesterday afternoon. The Mayor of Christchurch presided, and there was a very large attendance •of ladies and gentlemen. - The secretary of the Ladies' Committee brought up a number of suggestions for 'the better carrying out of the fete, and th? fol-: lowing alterations were agreed to:—That there should be not more than three judges to each section; that 'the judges should have as few sections assigned to them, as possible.; that the hour for receiving exhibits on the ground! should be extended to as late a time as possible ; that the judges should not be admitted until all tile exhibits are in position. The following were appointed a committee to draw up a pro-gramme:—-Mesdames Stead, Appleby and Morris, Miss Cabot, Messrs Louisson, E. "Smith, T. Clarksom and the secretary. A letter was received from 1 Mrs E. C. J. Stevens, offering £2 2s as prizes at the fete. A hearty vote of thanks was passed to Mrs Stevens for. the donation, and regret was expressed that site was unable to take an active part in the fete.
