ENTERTAINMENTS.

*-.- - On Monday evening a most interesting musiioal lecture on Handel was delivered by Dr Crooke in- St Andrew's Schoolroom, in connection with the monthly open meeting of tho Young Mew's Association. Dr Crocks, assisted by Mrs Crooke and the Misses Edgair,, played many selections from the composer's works, and Mrs Burns sang, with-'her usual finish and sympathy, "Rejoice Greatly" and "Angels Ever Bright and Fair." The schoolroom was crowded, and a most enjoyable, evening was spent. The -St Luke's Young Men's Club gave a gymnastic display m St Luke's schoolroom iatvt evening, showing the first quarter's work under the new instructor, Mr E. J. Barnes. This display did Mr Barnes great credit, and he is to be complimented on tibia; progress made. Members of the club went through running, dumb-bell, parallel bar, club,-horizontal bar, single-stick and pyramid exercises. Members of. the Young Ladies' Club gave a sa.-h drill and ring. exercises well. Two combats, with single-sticks and foils, between Mr E. J. Barnes and Professor Byrne, were specially interesting, both gentlemen showing a high degree of proficiency. A side drum .sob by Mr A. Reid, recitations by Mr D. Ryan, and a song by Mr H. Jenkins, combined, with the other items, to make an attractive programme. There was a good attendance.
