CHRISTCHURCH. Saturday, June 22. (Before Mr H. W. Bishop, S.M.) Drunkenness. —Four first offenders were convicted and discharged. One who did not appear was fined 5s and costs, and Malcolm M’Kinley was fined 6s and costs ?,B.
Alleged Larceny. — R. Hawthorne, a lad of about 15, was charged With tbs larceny of £3 10s from John Grec-nslade, at Lincoln. The Magistrate decided to adjourn the case till June 25, for a-report of the Probation Officer, and Mr Smaill, city missionary, undertook to look -after the accused till then and bring him to the Court. Maintenance.— William Ayers was changed on the in formation of Susan Going with failing to obey an orfer of tlis Court to pay 5s a week towards the maintenance of his illegitimate child by allowing this to fall in arrears to 'the -extent of £5 ss. Accused said he had got work in town now at 6s a day, and he would be able to pay 10s a week. The Magistrate sentenced him to three weeks’ imprisonment, but suspended the sentence so long »s bo paid up the arrears at the rate of 6s a Week and complied with the order.
