“CEAD MILE FAILTE”
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —A paragraph written in yesterday's “ Times ” questions the correct spelling .of the above. I maintain that it is he who is wrong, and the “Welcome” as spelt over Burke’s Hotel is perfectly correct. In confirmation of this I enclose the. “ Celtic Alphabet” as taught in the Irish-National Schools, also this very quotation “Cead mile ' failte ” {“ Hundred 1 thousand •welcomes”), taken, as written, in “Vere Foster’s * Copy-books,” universally used in the schools of Great Britain and Ireland. As C am. partly answerable for the spelling over Burke’s 'Hotel. I request you will Insert this in your valuable journal.—l am, eto., E. O’CONNOR.
