To-day is the Premier's birthday. It is understood that Mr C. Robinson, who has charge of the catering arrangements throughout the country for the Royal visitors, will be appointed chief stewaard at Bellamy's, vice the late Mr Leatham. It has been definitely decided that Colonel Pole.Penton will leave the colony in October next. Mr J. Bayne, lately director of the Canterbury Agricultural College at Linooln, intends leaving for Scotland on Saturday. Mr R. Ellis, for some years auctioneer to the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company at Oamaru, has received the appointment of stock auctioneer to,the New Zealand Farmers' Co-operative Association, in place of Mr J. J. Isbister, who takes charge of the grain and produce department. Messrs P. R. • Dix and (F. Duval will arrive in Christchurch this morning from the north. When Mr 0.. H. Weston left Christchurch for New Plymouth some time ago, he resigned his commission as lieutenant in iJhe Christ's College Rifles.'
