Dairy Cattle.—There is no end to the demand for cows in profit qr likely soon to be, and the few yarded were freely sold at from £5 to £lO, according to pirotpects of profit. Fat Sheep.—The sale of fat sheep was more animated than usual, owing to the operations of one or two buyers for ewe and second-class mutton, whether jfor export or on order,.was not apparent, but they proved factors in the (success of the sale. For any even lines of, fair to good quality, there was a far more eager demand than has existed of late. Prices were somewhat irregular at the opening.,- but hardened up materially during the afternoon, and resulted In an all-round improvement. Export buyers were also very much in evidence for good sorts of wethers and maiden ewes, and good even lines met with a ready sale at advanced, rates, equal to 6d a head on last weeks' quotations. The local trade held off at first, but were compelled in the end to compete for their requirements, and found they had to give more than those who had purchased earlier in the day, especially in the case of medium quality ewes, while a few extra heavy weights brought? inflated prices.
