CATHEDRAL ILLUMINATIONS.

TO THE EDITOR.

Sir) —I notice, on the Cathedral spire, the following in illuminated letters: “ Welcome to our future King, and Queen.” This seems putting our present King, who is not even crowned yet, a trifle in the shade. Who is the prophet who can, with certainty, foretell who our future King and Queen will be? Had the: late Prince Edward, the eldest son, taken a trip here a few years ago, I suppose the -same words, beautifully illuminated, would have appeared on -the spire. I would suggest altering the words, to o.nr possible or probable future King and Queen. —lam, etc., NO PROPHET.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —Referring to the question of lighting the cross on the Cathedral spire, -would ■ it not be a comparatively easy matter, -by flying a forgo kite, to carry a hempen oord j over one arm of the cross, and so draw up) a stronger rope, to which could be attached any lighting arrangement which may be tthought desirable? - By reference to.“ Ou-

ing ” a suitable form of kite may be obtained.—l am, etc., KITE.
