The Midland) team the previous week had easily defeated Sydenham and left the Lancaster Park team to finish the match with the United Eleven. Atkinson 31, Saxton 33, Brinsd'en 16 and Venables 16) and 7 for two wickets. Svdenham responded with 85(Ashby 17, Gudsell 12 and Clarkson 12 not out). Brinsden, North and Ridleybowled best for Lancaster Park, and Ashby and Gudsell for Sydenham. The Midland, team, batting two men short,, commenced the return match with United at Hagley Park on Saturday. The former were all disposed of for 106 (Richards 29, Ward 18. Sinclair 13, Frascr 13 and C. Prebble 12). United put together 92 for the loss of two wickets (Boddington 51, Aitkeii 25 not out, and Wiggins 16). Art-ken bowled best for United. PRESIDENT'S CUP. The .Albion team 'has decidedly the better 'of the match against Midland, commenced at Hagley Park on Saturday.' Albion made 86 (Burleigh 16, G. Gray 12, Ogier 12, ' and Patterson 10). Midland scored 61 (Mitchell 25,Hervey 24 and 9 for six wickets. Lancaster Park 128 (North 29, Willstead 20, Redpath 19, Eaton 17 and Jameson 19l : Midland made 33 in its first innings (Anthony 13 and Precce 11) and 44 (Doig not out 11 and Norman 10). Eaten and Fuller captured most of the wickets for the Park. SCHOOLS COMPETITION., The Richmond School defeated the East Christchurch School by an innings .and 20 runs. Scores: —East Christchurch" 25 and 31 (Maloney 13 and Fraser 9); Richmond 76 (Miller 24 and Brown 11). Brown bowled best for the winners, taking seven wickets, in the first innings and six in the second. In the match between West Christchurch and Sydenham, the latter, won, on the.first inning's, by 40 runs. Cooper bowled bsst for Sydenham, and Norman and Bettle for West Christchurch. WISDEN TROPHY COMPETITION. At Richmond, on Saturday, Marshland B played Rivals, B, and the match resulted in an easy win for the former by 29 runs. The scores were :—Marshland B, 58 (R. R. Walter 22 not out, A. Dixey 14); Rivals B 29. For the winners A. Dixey and J. R. Walter- bowled well, the former taking five wickets for eight runs, while H. Tankard and Gray howled best for the losers. A match was played at Rangiora on Saturday between Kaiapoi and R-angiora. Rangiora scored 325 runs, and owing to the long innings there was not time for Kaiapoi to bat. The chief scores were: Vincent 73, Helmore 61, Reeves 55, Judson 37 not out, Felton 32, Cresswell, 28, Urower 10 and Cunningham 10. Clayton, Blackwell and Featherstoii bowled best. A bad rot set in, and Ashbolt and Hale's beat the batsmen badly, Ashbolt especially. \\ Telliiigton had made 130 for six wickets when the stumps were drawn.
