.._—<, • A meeting of the Gbristchurch. Vege-tarian-Society was held on Thursday evening in .the Metaphysical club-room., Gloucester Street. A paper was read by Mrs L. Blake, entitled, "IsSa-w a New Earth." Mr Wilkinson also read a pa.per, the subject being, "Is There ai Natural Food?" Both papers were productive of interesting discussions. A resolution, moved; by Mrs L. Blake, was carried unanimously, to the effect that the Christchurch Vegetarian Society should approach the president of the National Council of Women and request that at its next convention the subject of "I'ood 1 Reforms," and its close connection with all other reforms, should be brought prominently before it by means of a< 'scientific paper. An address was delivered by Mr J. M'Combs on "Food.in its Relation to Man's? Development." The speaker contended that a. vegetarian diet was most conducive to the physical, meiital, moral and spiritual advancement of the individual . and the,..race.. ] The opinion.was. expressed .iLat.v.pigeon-shoatrag,, matches should be •prohibited. -During, [the;: evening instrumental items "were rendered sby-.-members.
