Mr W. F. 51. Buckley left for the south yesterday morning. Dr Soif, the Governor of Samoa, arrived at Auckland! yesterday by the 3la-napouri. Amongst the passengers ■who* arrived at Wellington yesterday by the 3lok,oia, from Sydney, were Sir Walter Murton, the Solicitor to the British Board of Trade, and Mr John Duthic. The Hon J. M. Twomey, M.L.C., and Mr T. W. Kirk, Government Biologist, arrived in Christchurch, by the express train last evening. The Rev .Shirley Baker, who has been residing in Tonga for the past year or two, returned to Auckland by the Manaponri. Mr Baker is in a very poor state of health, and on arrival lie had to ha carried on a stretcher, being fur too weak to stand. Archbishops Carr and Redwood, Bishops Grimes and Verclon, Mousignors O’Reilly and O’Leary, and the Rev Fathers- M'Carthy. Tubman, Cleary and Coffey left for the soyth by yesterday’s express train.
