[Fhom Oub Coshespondent.] DUNEDIN, Feb. 12. After addressing a crowded .meeting at Heriob last evening on produce and trade subjects, Mr Thomas! Mackenzie received a great ovation. Three hearty" cheers were given for the Waihemo constituency for electing Mr Mackenzie and retaining for the colony the benefit of his valuable experience and extensive knowledge. Three, ringing cheers were given for Mr Mackenzie, accompanied by the singing of " Far He's a Jolly Good Fellow." A motions was _ also carried expressive of deep sorrow for the Hon J. M'Kenzie's regrettable retirement from the Agricultural Department. Forbury Park, which has been, somewhat of a. white elephant- .vines the Dunedin Jockey Club /removed its patronage and secured'a new racecourse at Wangatui, is likely soon to see a. revival of racing within its precincts. Four ' Dunedin gentlemen have formed a syndicate and intend to purchase, the land, float a. company and hold race meetings. The. price to be'paid is ; £16,000. At the Police Court to-day, Samuel Flaherty,' charged with a criminal offence on a. young child at St Clair, was committed for trial. He asked for bail, and the Magistrate said he would make it nearly prohibitory, fixing it at £IOOO, with two sureties of £SOO each.
