Messrs Dalgety and Company, Limited, have received the following cable messaga from their London office, under date Feb. 9: Wool.—The Kales closed a shade firmer. For the bulk of merino wools, prices are on a par with closing rates of last series, scoured merino (superior descriptions excepted, for which prices are scarcely maintained) being at par- to- 5 per cent higher. For fine cross-bred, prices are on. a pat with closing rates of last scries, while medium and coarse.cross-bred are at par fo ; 5 per cent lower/-; Out of the .net quantity of Australasian and Cape wool available for sale, some 145,000 bales have been sold for Homo consumption, 95,000 for the Continent, 5000 for America, leaving 94,000 bales (of which 19,000'bales are Cape wool) to be carried forward to the next series. Tallow. —The market is exceedingly dull, and buyers show no disposition whatever to operate. We think prices will go lower before they ; go higher—at least temporarily. Hides. —Since our last telegram Queens-. land heavy ox hides ate higher by %& per lb, and light ox hides by -|d per lb. Prices of New South Wales hides are unchanged. Leather. —.Prices are timchanged.
