CYCLING.

The annual bicycle road race among the employees of the Drapery Importing Company took place on Thursday afternoon on the Riccarton Road to Sockburn and back to the Riccarton Hotel. The road was loose and dusty, and a very strong easterly wind prevailed. There were fourteen competitors, and the race was for three trophies, the first of which was presented by Mr P. Hallenstein. The contest was won by Murphy very easily, with 2min '4ssec start, his time for the distance being 22min 51 l-sth sec. Philp, with 25sec, was second, and Lanham, with Imin 40sec,_ was third.
