FIRES.
About nine o’clock last night a small fira occurred in a shop in Green’s Buildings, Manchester Street, occupied, by 1 Mr J. J. :P.i Walker, chemist. alarm given and the Brigade turned out, but its services were not required, the'flames'having already been extinguished. A second alarm was given about 9.15 p.m., when, a six-roomsd house at Dallington, owned and occupied by Mr W. Lyons, , was discovered to be on fire. The fire being outside Christchurch, the Brigade turned back after going part of the way. ; When discovered the • 'flames Juad a very strong hold, and the house and furniture were completely destroyed. At the time, Mr Lyons and his family were attending the concert' at the Choral Hall.
