United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. ADELAIDE CUP. ADELAIDE, May 10. The race for the Adelaide Cup resulted as follows:—Contrast 7st, 1; Merry Pilgrim 6st 71b, 2; Le Var 9st 2lb, 3. Thirteen other horses started. Won easily. Time—3min 56sec.
The following horses may run well forward in their respective engagements at the autumn meeting of the Christchurch Racing Club to-day:—Hurdle Race, Rhoderick Dhn ; Madden Plate, Fireside and Vulcan; Christchurch Racing Ciub Handicap. Paladin and Malatua; Brighton Trot, Rothschild Boy and Millionaire ; Flying Handicap, Jewel and Ben Farley; Selling Hack Race, Shekel and Camel; YVelter Handicap, Strathnairn and Bizarre; Burwood Trot, Satan • and Comet IJ. Mr F. Mulholland has sold" Scrutineer to an Invercargill sportsman, and the son of Electioneer will be sent south to-day.
