STATEMENT BY MR CHAMBERLAIN.
United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.
LONDON, May 10.
In the House of Commons, Mr Hogan asked whether, in view of British Columbia's offer to contribute towards the Pacific cable, Great Britain would re-consider the scheme, and fall in harmony with the wishes of Canada and Australia.
Mr Chamberlain, in reply, said that he was awaiting replies from the colonies. If representations were made on their behalf regarding Great Britain's offer, they would receive careful consideration.
