CURRENT NOTICES.

The following meetings will be held to-day-.—South Waimakariri River Board, 2 p.m. ; City Council, 7.30 p.m. ; St Albans Borough Council, 7.30 p.m. .The annual meeting of, the Canterbury Acclimatisation Society will be held at the Secretary’s office, Hereford Street, to-mor-row, at 7.30 p.m. Mr W. W. Tanner, M.H.R., will address his constituents a t the New Brighton school at 7.30 p.m. to-morrow, and on Thursday evening he will speak at the Town Hall. Belfast. Messrs J. Gilbert and J. Stony have been elected members of the Ellesmere Road Board. Dr Gane will! lecture to the afternoon class of the St John Ambulance Association on Wednesday, instead of Thursday, this week. The committee of the Musical Union and Motett Society announce that nonsubscribers ■ can obtain seats for . the first concert, which is to bo given •on Tuesday and Thursday, in the Opera ' House, when Handel’s “ Samson ” will be produced. The final rehearsal will take place to-night in the Opera House, to which only members will be admitted. The Ashburton Coursing Club will hold its next meeting on Queen’s Birthday, on Mr Duncan Cameron’s Springfield Estate, Mcfchven. There will be a stake for puppies and one for all-aged dogs. In connection with the Young Men’s Mission, a missionaxy meeting will be held iii the Trinity Congregational Schoolroom, Manchester Street, at 7.30 this -evening, when addresses will be given by Mr C. F. Reeve (director of the Poona and Indian Village Mission), and Misses Newton and Gardner, and other returned missionaries. The Corrick family will give entertainments in thp country towns, commencing at Rangiora to-morrow evening. The subject of Mrs Cunnington’s historical lecture to-night at the Terraco Room will be “ The Wonderful Nineteenth Century— Wallace, Lyell and Darwin.”
