SCHOOL COMMITTEES.
The monthly meeting of the Temuka School Committee was held on Friday; present— Messrs_ A. Russell (chairman), Grant, Bates, Davis, Levens and Larcombe. A: report from the Inspector upon a surprise visit was considered very satisfactory. The head-master reported that the average attendance for four weeks was—-Boys 198.5, girls 133.3, total 331.8, out of a roll of 363. The “ hobby show ” had been successful, and after paying off a debt on the piano of £27 9s 6d, there wotild be about £22 in hand for prizes and school apparatus. The teachers were, specially thanked for promoting and carrying out the show, and allowed to exercise their own discretion as to the purchase of dumbbells and clubs. The janitor was voted 30s for extra services. •
