ADDINGTON.' ’ ' ‘ : Nearly every class of stock was well -represented’at Addington yesterday. , The- attendance os unusually large; and good biisi■neiS; ' resulted.- Entries for the day com-, prised b7OO sheep, about 2000 lambs, 484 head of cattle and 388 pigs. In comparing the prices obtained for fat sheep and lambs ' with those of last week, it must be taken into consideration that tb'-J summer charges for freezing and freights have commenced during the week, and these make a difference of. about Is Sd on, a 601 b sheep, and about Is on a 401 b lamb’. The yarding of fat cattle was made up of ZOO head, which were of very mixed quality, with the exception of a line of 28 head of well-finished steers from the North Island, which brought from £7 I2s 6d to £9 17s 6d. A further drop took place in the price of beef, the best only fetching from 17s 6d to 19s per 1001 b, medium to good 14s to 17s, and cow and inferior 'down to 11s. Good Canterbury steers brought from £5 15s to £7 10s, and others down to £5” 16s, heifers'£4 2s 6d to £6, and cows £2 7s 6d to £5 17s 6d. The entries of store cattle were larger and better than for some time past, and there wa.s a much • better inclination to do business/ A line of fc ur-year-old steers was withdrawn at £5 7s 6d; two-and-a-lialf-year-old mixed sexes brought £2 10s 1 , yearlings 28s, and store cows from £1 to £3. Tire dairy cows were a poor let, and only a couple of springers reached £4. The fat sheep yards were unable to bold the large number which came forward.' Evbn for the better sorts a drop of fully 2s per head was experienced. Freezing wethers (shorn) brought 12s 6d to 14s 6d, and some extra heavy-up to 15s Id, unfinished sorts selling as low as 10s 6c, (best young ewes 10s to 12s 6d and up to 13s 4d for a. few extra good, while aged aorta sold down to 6s 3d. Amongst the principal sales were: —For a South Canterbury client, wethers in the wool 17s 3d, shorn ewes 11s Id to 12s Id; Mr J. Vovca, Templeton, shorn ewes at 15s 4d; Mr J. Boag, Brookside, do at 11s 3d ; 218 shorn wethers from Little Raver at 15s 6d; the Levels Estate, 120 shorn ewes at 10s lOd to 11s 9d; Mr W. Wright. Ellesmere, 120 do at 11s to 12s; Mr F. Clinton, Darfield, ’do at 11s 6d; the Acton Kdfcato, do at 11s 6d and shorn wethers at 13s to 15s ; Mr G. Wright, Annat, half-bred shorn wethers at 11s 8d; Mr J. C. C. Debbie, Gobbles Valley, shorn wethers at 12 s - 5d ; Mr C. Hurst. Oakleisrh, half-bred shorn wethers at 12s Id to 13s"2d and do maiden ewes at 10s 6d to 12s Id; Mr P. Callaghan, Onawc, 119 wethers and maiden ewes at 10s 4d; Mr A. Macfarlanc. Achray, 70 half-bred shorn wethers a.t 13s 9fl to 14s Id; Mr W. .Strachan, Rakaia, shorn wethers at 13s 6d to 16s Id and maiden ewes at 12s 7d; Mr S. Bulmer, Fendalton, shorn wethers and maiden ewes- at. 13s 3d. There was a large yarding of fat lambs, and freezers and butchers were in competition for all wellfinished lots. A very nice line of 700, from Mr R. M. Morten’s Heslerton Estate, realised 13s Id. which is about the highest price got for one straight line at this market,. They were secured by Mr L. B. .1 osswill for export. Other lots brought from 9s 4d to 13s 9d. according to quality. Amongst the principal sales were’:—For Mr J. M. Cresswell, Hororata, at 13s 9d; Mr J. S. A medimn entry of store sheep, the bulk of which were shorn hoggets, met a very good sale, and except where vendors imposed prohibitive values, everything changed hands. A line of 500 cross-bred wethers in the wool brought 12s 9d. 116 shorn do 11s 3d, and small lots from 6s lid to 10s 6d. according to size and condition ; a line of 173 two and four-tooth shorn ewes and lambs at 8s 4d, all counted, and. small lots up to 9s 3d ; 500 shorn hoggets 6a lid to 7s Id, 426 at 9s od, 400 at 6s 2d, and smaller lots at. 3s 9d to 6s lid. Pigs of all classes were well represented, and the large number of fat sorts caused this kind to be scarcely so firm, although last week’s average of 1 about per lb was about maintained. Baconers ran from 37s 6d to 64 s 6d, porkers 25s to 545, stores 20s to 355, weaners 12s 6d to 17s, and suckers 12s to 14s.

PROPERTY. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company offered the Blackford Its-, tato at auction yesterday afternoon at Mr Charles Clark’s rooms. The property was withdrawn, the highest bid having been £2 2s 6d per acre. BURNSIDE. ' DUNEDIN, Nov. 30. Pat cattle—l 79 head were yarded, mostly good to prime. The trade was not operating 'freely, and prices show a decline of 10s to 15s per head. Extra fat sold cheaply.
