AGRICULTURAL AND PASTORAL ASSOCIATION.

TIMARU. A general meeting of the Timaru Agricultural and Pastoral Association was held on Saturday (Mr J. S. Rutherford, president, in the chair), to complete the work of the annual meeting. Mr William Priest was re-elected honorary treasurer, Mr M. Gray auditor, and the sum of £IOOO was formally voted as the committee’s limit of expenditure for the current year. Mr P. Wareing raised a discussion on the subject of gate passes, and it was resolved that the committee should be recommended to consider the advisability of issuing passes. A meeting of committee was then -held. The prize schedule for the next show, as revised by a sorb-committee, was considered, and some details altered in the “Instructions to Judges.” The charge for space for machinery and extras was increased from 6d to Is per foot frontage. The sub-committee had adopted a proposal to make two sections for English Leicesters, fine and strong wools. This was now opposed, and Hie division discarded. Mr R. H. Rhodes then moved that the usual division of merinoes into two sections should be also dropped, and this was carried by eight votes to six. The Christchurch Meat Company offered ten guineas for two prizes for freezing sheep and lambs, on certain conditions. The offer was accepted, certain of the conditions to be modified if possible. The prizes for the hunter classes (jumping) were raised from £4 and £2 to £7 and £3, and a special prize of £5 5s was offered by Albury settlers for the best jumper that had not previously jumped on a show-groimd. A number of other private prizes were reported.
