WAIMAKARIRI - ASHLEY WATER SUPPLY BOARD.
Tho ordinary fortnightly meeting of this Board was held on Thursday; present — Messrs J. D. Dickinson (in the chair), Horrell, Dalziel and Dailey. Mr P. Wright interviewed the. Board in reference to deepening and widening the race through his property, and also drew attention to the leakage of w,ater taking;, .place at the north end of the Eyre flume. Mr Horrell mentioned his intention of placing crossings over the races on his property at his own expense, in such manner as might be suggested, by the Engineer, and that he would not accept repayment. It was decided to call for tenders for contracts for the water-races already surveyed immediately after the loan poll has been taken. The Chairman was requested to see what steps were necessary for the inclusion of the settlers of the upper p,xrt of the Gust Yalley, in tho Brown’s Bock sub-division of the district. A letter was received from the Oxford Road Board, in reference to several small matters in connection with Cooper’s Creek w ; iter-race crossings, which'had been attended to in the meantime, as well as referring to some fords in the Brown’s Bock district, and asking how much of the roadway at the road crossings the Water Board claimed and intended to maintain. In connection with tbiq matter the Engineer brought before the Board the question of the maintenance of the fords, and suggested that a letter should be addressed to efich of the Road Boards in the district asking their views as to taking over the fords and maintaining them. Panther correspondence was read: —Prom the Minister of Lands, regretting his inability to receive the Bciard’s deputation owing to late receipt of letter. From Mr G. A. White, in reference to his and Mrs White’s rates. Mrs Bradley interviewed the Board in reference to a culvert being provided. The matter was left to Mr Horrell and the Engineer to arrange. The meeting-then terminated.
