THE INDUSTRIAL ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIPS.
Messrs G. H. Elliott, S. H. Seager and L. B. Wood, who conducted the examination for the Industrial Association’s scholarships, state, in their report submitted to the Board of Governors yesterday, that lor the examinations which were held on -March 14,15 and 17 there were twenty-two applications, and the occupations represented were as follow; —Throe painters, one wood turner, one working jeweller, one jobbing printer, two builders, one joiner, three carpenters, three bootmakers, one clerk, two cabinetmakers, one engineer, one schoolboy and one lithographer. Nineteen of these came up for examination, and the names of the successful competitors, in order of merit, were:—PercivaJ. Goodsall, painter; T. W. Owen, painter; Harold Broadley, painter; B. A. Frostick, bootmaker ; H. 11. Green, builder; EL E. Green, joiner; E. J. Dalziel, carpenter, -and! Prank M. Morgan, bootmaker. The last two being equal, it was suggested by the examiners that a one year’s scholarship should be divided between them. There" were, according to the conditions, four two-year scholarships and three one-year, and they had suggested to the Association that the first four on the list should obtainthe former and the last four the latter.A. W. Kemp, who obtained the highest number of marks, was ineligible for a scholarship, owing to his not following any trade.
