CYCLING TO HANMER PLAINS.

TO THU EDITOR. Sib, —In answer to “ Indianman,” I may state the road to Hanmer Plains as far as Holmes’ accommodation house, for bicycles, is fairly good. After leaving that hostelry, and passing over the bridge which spans the Waiau, the road leads to a deep descent till the entrance to the Perceval River is gained. This, and the Clarence River, will have to be crossed as best can. If the rivers are not in flood, it is not very difficult to pick a way. There are telegraph posts as a guide, but whether it is wise for cyclists to follow in the direct line whilst negotiating the passage is more than I can say. The roads to Lahmert’s and Jollie’s pass, are good for cyclists. —I am, Ac. WELL-WISHER.
