TEACHERS’ APPOINTMENTS.

' TO'THE'EDITOR. Sir, —Whijo fully agreeing with “ Pedagogue,” regarding the" above, there is one addition! should like to make to it, and this is, that the Board . should inform teachers who may" have applied, and perhaps frequently, for appointments, but whom the Board may in each instance have not seen its way to place their names in the “ recommended ” list, that it is no use their applying again. Then such teachers would know what to do; but to allow these unfortunates to go on applying—they not knowing that the Board for some reason will not recommend them—is cruel, as few School Commit! ees will select a teacher other than out of the “recommended ” list, fearing there is something wrong somewhere. It is well known that many teachers apply, and are unsuccessful for years. Why not be straightforward and let them know it will be better for them to turn their attention to something else, than by not doing so encourage their seeking positions to which the Board cannot recommend them ?—I am, &c., SUCCESSFUL PEDAGOGUE.
