THE UNRULY MEMBER.

, ... TO THE EDITOR. Sir—A meeting was held on Saturday night, under the auspices of the prohibitionists, to discuss the report of the Liberty, League. The ex-president of the League was. pilloried by Mr T. E. Taylor with all the wellfknown powers of abuse possessed 'by ..that person. .It soon-became apparent that the promoters of the meeting had other Subjects to deal-with than the business.;.ofthe 'Liberty League. second r item; on the .programme' was a violent attack on the editor, of the Lyttelton Times by Mr T. E. Taylor. The editor is, if we are' to believe the speaker, utterly unfitted to hold the position he occupies—an opinion very far, indeed, from being entertained by the majority of the readers of that Liberal organ. The list of shareholders of the New Zealand Times gave an opportunity to introduce the names of the Premier, together with those of the members of his family; a proceeding characterised by infinite bad taste. One would imagine that Mr T. E. Taylor, having reached the goal of his ambition and acquired the right to affix the magic letters of M.11.R, to his name, together with' the still more potent figures of .£240, would have learnt to curb his rancorous tongue.—l am, &c., *ONE. OF THE CROWD.
