The local representative of a wealthy English syndicate has applied for nine months’ option of the Great Northern mine, offering .£2OOO cash, or 20,000 paid-up .£1 shares in a company of =£120,000, in the event of the option being taken up, all the development works during the period covered by the option to he at the expense of the English syndicate. The Great Northern shares are largely held in Wellington. The Bank of New Zealand has received information from London that 821 b of specimens sent from the Pour-in-Hand mine produced a gross value of gold of ,£399 10s. EEEPTON, Peb. 8. During the year 181 applications for mining leases have been made in Inangahua County. Of these some were refused, and some granted have since been surrendered, so that the total increase on the county books is 141. HOKITIKA, Feb. 8. The Mont d'Or Company has washed up with 2370 z, and has declared a dividend of two shillings per share.
