A meeting ws,s held last night at the shop of Mr G. Andrews, pork butcher, for the purpose of confirming the formation of a, company to purchase from the liquidator of the Brockley Cooperative Coal-mining Company the rights, titles and interests in the said Company, and to work the mine and other properties of the Company. There ■was an attendance of about a dozen persons, and Mr J. E. Brunt presided. A motion forming a company with, a capital of .£3OOO, in 300 shares of £lO each, was confirmed, as were motions appointing Messrs 11.I 1 . Anderson, D. H. Brown, J. R. Brunt, W. Congreve, R. W. England, G. Andrews; and W. Woods provisional directors; the National Bank, bankers; Messrs Maude and Harman, solictors; and Mr G. W. Staniland secretary pro tern. The Chairman read a report on the property by Mr. Oakley Archer,, mining engineer, who considered that there was a valuable asset in the tramway, and stated that the anthracite seam was well marked, and that the black seam would nearly follow it. These seams had been traced for three-quarters of a mile. He recommended that the seam should be trenched for on the hill, and an inclined shaft sunk on the seam itself; the coal obtained in sinking would nearly pay for the labour, and the Kinking would provide the necessary escapes and ventilation. A draft prospectus was considered and slightly amended, and it was decided to issue it to the public. The meeting adjourned for a week.
